Guthrie to Continue to Host Scholarship Challenge

Twenty four high schools and eight junior high schools will take the Scholarship Challenge this year, with the first qualifier to take place Jan. 25 and the finals set for March 22. The event is open to the public.
Sayre, Pa. – Guthrie is proud to announce that “Scholarship Challenge”, the long-running high school quiz, will now be held annually in the Patterson Auditorium on the Guthrie Sayre campus.

“Scholarship Challenge is an important event for high school and junior high school students across the Guthrie service area,” said CEO of Guthrie Health, Joseph Scopelliti, MD.  He added, “We are proud to host the event on our campus and we wish the students and high school teams the best of luck in the 34th year of this event.”

The contest in brain power is sponsored by WATS/WAVR radio and will take place for five Saturdays in the Patterson Auditorium through January, February and March. Visitors to the broadcast will enjoy a brand new look to the stage with a new backdrop, new tables, and table coverings.  Guthrie also helped underwrite the cost of the new look with a sponsorship gift to the Scholarship Challenge.
