Fundraiser for the Syrian Refugees- Saturday, October 19, 2013

Event will be held at Saint Mary Antiochian Orthodox Church in Wilkes-Barre
Wilkes-Barre, Luzerne County-  The Khoudary family will host a fundraiser for Syrian refugees on Saturday, October 19 at Saint Mary Antiochian Orthodox Church.  The event is open the public and feature refreshments and a silent auction with a number of items up for bid. Children are invited to create a greeting card that will be sent to the children of Syria.
 The feature speaker for the evening will be Father Nawras Samour, SJ, the director of the Middle East Jesuit Refugee Service.

    Since the beginning of the civil war in Syria, more than two million refugees have left their homes looking for a safer place in Syria and other countries.   Father Samour will be speaking about his personal experiences with the humanitarian crisis.

   The event will raise awareness and funds for the Jesuit Refugee Service.  Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS) is an international, Catholic, non-government organization which provides services and advocates on behalf of the refugees.   St. Mary Antiochian Orthodox church is located at 905 South Main Street in Wilkes-Barre

   
    The silent auction fundraiser will take place from 7 pm to 8 pm at the Church.  Father Samour will give a presentation at 8:30 pm.  This event is open to the public.  There is no admission fee.  All proceeds will benefit The Jesuit Refugee Service.
