Program Reminder: The Court Appointed Special Advocates program (CASA) is the topic of this Sunday’s Newsmakers.  The monthly public affairs program is hosted by Senior Producer Jayne Ann Bugda and the I-Team’s Andy Mehalshick.  Bugda and Mehalshick will have as their guests, Luzerne County Judge Tina Polachek Gartley,  John Aciukewicz, CASA Board President and Stephanie Simon, CASA Volunteer Coordinator.
   Judge Gartley, Aciukewicz and Simon will explain how the volunteer program works and what is required of volunteers.  CASA Volunteers are appointed by a judge to advocate and be the voice of a child in court.  Volunteers are needed for the Luzerne County program.
  Newsmakers will air Sunday, September 8th at 6:30 am on WYOU and will rebroadcast at 11:30 am on WBRE.

This Sunday’s Generation of Energy Segment features the first CNG Filling station is now open in Clinton County.  Learn more about this new way to fill up your vehicle on this week’s Generations of Energy with Drew Speier this Sunday at 11 pm on Eyewitness News.
 
This 51st Edition of the Luzerne County Fair  runs through September 8th.  Food, rides, entertainment and plenty of fun for everyone.
 
Funfest is underway in downtown Hazleton, Entertainment, food, games, a car show, parade and much more this Saturday and Sunday.  There is a number of events listed under our community link on PAHomepage and you can check out the Funfest Website.  The theme of the weekend is an ‘80’s throwback weekend!

  While you are in Hazleton stop by the Greater Hazleton Historical Society. The museum will be open on Saturday from 10 am to 3 pm.  Admission this weekend is $4 for adults and $2 for children-that includes a guided tour.

Eckley Miners’ Village is pleased to announce that on September 15, 2013 it will host its first music event in several years reviving a popular and much missed program.   Joining us on Sunday the 15th will be the Irish band the Donegal Weavers, polka band the Pennsylvania Villagers, and Americana band the Hometown Boyz. 
 

*Meet Curtis “Turk” Mattern. He has been in his share of parades in his 87 years.  And this year, he will lead one as the Grand Marshal of the Funfest Parade.

 “60 Minutes” showcases the September 11 Memorial Museum and some personal items from the late Michael Jackson (7pm) and then on “Unforgettable” Carrie tracks a murder….and treasure in NY.  (Both are WYOU.)  Big game on WBRE ---NY Giants @ Dallas 8:30-11:30pm that’s NFL of course After the Packers/49ers game (ends 7:30pm)…there’s regular “animation domination” (repeats) 8-10pm on WOLF.
