  Here's what we are working  on for Eyewitness News for  October 1, 2013.

 Today's Features: 
  The Lackawanna County Commissioners are sponsoring the third annual "Heroes Day" on Saturday, October 5, from 10 am to 2 pm at the 911
Center, Valley View Drive, Jessup. 

The Khasma Piano Duo will perform in concert Sunday, Oct. 6, at 4 p.m. in the Rooke Recital Hall of the Weis Music Building at Bucknell University.

Trick or Treat in the Chestnuthill Park in Monroe County will be Thursday, October 31st from 5pm - 7pm.

  On PA LIVE -  Dave Becker is  your producer- 
  In the PA LIVE Kitchen:  The Ladies from the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Wilkes-Barre in the kitchen today making a Greek desert called "Flogres"

In the Tuesday Tryout, we'll check out the stone wave microwave cooker and let you know if it really makes "gourmet" dishes in just minutes.

  And  Roba's Family Farms will stop by to talk about their Pink Ribbon Campaign.

  We will have several reports on how the Federal Government Shutdown is being felt locally.  Eric Deabill has a unique twist to the story from Lackawanna County

  Our Laurie Monteforte  was at a groundbreaking for a new business that will bring 1,000 new jobs to the region. We'll show you the plans and tell you when it  will open

  Someone dumped puppies along a roadway in Luzerne County.  Blue Chip Farms Animal  Refuge is hoping to find the mother of the pups to help nurse them back to health.  Andy Mehalshick will have our story.


  On Eyewitness News at 6 and 11  Lindsay Keeler  is your producer

  More on the Federal Government shutdown.

  Good news in West Hazleton.  Money is donated for the purchase of a new police cruiser. Kelly Choate will have our story

The government shutdown is closing national parks, monuments and memorials across the country- we of course will have more on this story.

  The fountain is flowing pink in Harrisburg for Breast Cancer Awareness

  Yale University received quite donation from a graduate.

  The winter Olympics are in February but the official kick off recently happened in Greece!
