Friends of Kristin Hoovler to Host Fundraiser

A run, walk and fundraiser will be held for Kristin Hoovler of Mountain Top
On November 30, 2013 at Nescopeck State Park friends of Kristin Hoovler are holding the 5 K-Rock fun walk and run at 1pm.  After the 5K there will be an after party at the Broadway Tavern on Route 309 in Mountaintop.  Starting at 2pm the Broadway will give a portion of every drink sale and 100% of the cover charges to The Kristin Hoovler Fund.  There will be live music, the Doug & Sean Duo and Rob Brown with Hammer. There will also be a basket raffle and items auctioned.
There are going to be great gifts to be given away. Tickets for the basket could be purchased at the race or the after party. Some prizes include weekend vacations to Smugglers’ Notch, VT; Atlantic City, NJ; Miami, FL; and Denver, CO.  Along with the trips, there are also baskets including movies, a martini basket, items from Hops and Barley’s, a winter themed basket, coffee, spa, Italian, Mary Kay, and silpada baskets. We are also giving away a Button Oil and a Kevin’s Restaurant gift certificates just to name some of the prizes.
A number of area restaurants and bakeries are donating food that will be available to participants throughout the day.  Dunkin Donuts will be giving away coffee and munchkins at the race.  Whistle Stop, La Napoli, Luigi’s, King’s, Abe’s, Sanitary Bakery, and Carone’s Market are all generously donating food for the after party. So get there before the food runs out!
On September 29th Kristin and her boyfriend, Steve Kleiner, were in a very serious motorcycle accident.  She was wearing a helmet (which saved her life) but still suffered severe brain trauma.  Her recovery has been miraculous.  However, she is still in need of much rehabilitation and the recovery will be a slow process.
Kristin is 33 years old; she was born & raised in Mountain Top, PA.  The Hoovler family has lived in Mountain Top for 30+ years.  They are active with St Paul’s Lutheran Church, Mountaintop on the Move, Race for the Cure, etc.  Kristin represented Crestwood High School as their mascot “The Comet” during all her years in high school.  Prior to her accident she was working at Preferred Travel and living in Forty Fort.  Over the past 1½ years Kristin has amazed us all with a weight loss of over 115 lbs. through exercise and healthy eating.  She loves to make people laugh with her loud sense of humor and enjoys listening to live music. Her bright personality and outgoing demeanor has had an effect on the lives of her many friends, family, coworkers and acquaintances.  She will need everyone’s support to help her on her road to recovery!
