State Rep. Marty Flynn is hosting his first Family Fun Fest, Pet Expo and Pet Walk from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday at Nay Aug Park in Scranton.
There will be demonstrations by the Scranton Police K-9 and bomb squad units; Therapy Dogs Pet Prancers Show; free Child-ID kits from New York Life; and "adoptable" pets from regional animal shelters and rescue groups including Griffin Pond Animal Shelter, One Life to Live Animal Rescue, Indraloka Animal Sanctuary, and Modified K9.
"My staff and I will be on hand to discuss all of the issues coming before the House of Representatives when we return to session later this month. We also will be able to help people search the state Treasury unclaimed property database," said Flynn, D-Lackawanna.
Free brochures and information on various state programs also will be available to attendees.
"This should be a fun event for people of all ages and I look forward to seeing friends and neighbors and making new acquaintances of the two- and four-legged variety," Flynn said.
Flynn said the event will be located around the Schimelfenig Pavilion, just past the pool and food concession area of the park.
The legislator's regular office hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at Jay's Commons, 409 N. Main Ave, Scranton. The phone number is 570-342-4348.
