Several current and former Wilkes-Barre Township firefighters were called to testify before a Federal Grand Jury in Scranton Tuesday. The I-Team has confirmed the Grand Jury is looking into the theft case involving Fire Chief John Yuknavich. Several of the firefighters told this reporter they were there to tell the truth and support Chief Yuknavich. The FBI seized records from the Wilkes-Barre City Employees Federal Credit Union earlier this year and sources close to the case tell the I-Team the Yuknavich case came onto the FBI radar as they were investigating unrelated alleged corruption cases in Wilkes-Barre. Yuknavich was charged by State Police for allegedly stealing some $60,000 from the fire department for personal use between 2008 and 2012.  Residents of Wilkes-Barre Township interviewed by the I-Team were overwhelmingly in support of Yuknavich. Kathleen Vita said, "He has always been there for  us..everything he's been doing has been for the good of the people. I frankly don't have a problem with him."  Michelle Yelland added, "Let's end this already. He's been really good to everybody up here."
