NCIS Character Leroy Jethro Gibbs returns to his hometown of Stillwater, Columbia County in Tuesday night's episode. Daybreak Anchor Tim Kelchner visited Stillwater to check it out.
 

Stillwater, Columbia County- NCIS Character Leroy Jethro Gibbs is played by actor Mark Harmon. The Character grew up in Stillwater.
It's  a tiny borough of about 200 people nestled in the northern part of Columbia County

 
The owner of Kline's Gararge off Route 487 in Stillwater, John Kline has lived in the borough his entire life.  Although the 80-year old may have never heard of his hometown's most famous fictional resident, he's still interested in the show for its familiar connections

  For NCIS fans looking for 232 Old Tioga Turnpike, you're out of luck this is the closest Daybreak Anchor Tim Kelchner could find it's 237, but that's because the bulk of the show is shot in California, but that doesn't stop them from having several Columbia county references."

  Like the paper they show is The Press Enterprise.
 
Eyewitness News showed clips of the show to Jesse Young Senior and his son, Jesse Junior.  In addition to the newspaper the father-son duo at Young's automotive also recognized local landmarks like the former Stillwater Train Station and the general store....but they did notice one discrepancy.  The show refers to Stillwater as a coal mining town....The Young's say it is more of farming community.
 
 

That slight detail aside, it didn't dampen the excitement for Tuesday night's season finale as Gibbs returns to his hometown..
The Youngs jokingly said they would sell Gibbs a car if he showed up
