Voter turnout in Luzerne County was low to moderate so say election officials. Eyewitness News stopped by several polling places Tuesday including one located inside the Wilkes-Barre Township Fire Department. Judge of Elections Rich Cosgrove said, "We are about 10 percent by midday and I'm told that is slow but not unexpected. We do have several Township related races including school director and council and that should draw out voters as we close in on 8 o'clock when the polls close." Mayor CarL Kuren added, "I am hearing that Senior Citizens are very afraid since Luzerne County officials are proposing an 8 percent tax hike. Many of our residents live on fixed incomes and cannot afford any increase in taxes. They are paying close attention to the County Council race and the race for county controller."
