The long holiday weekend was a busy one for many community, service and civic groups. They set up shop at area rest stops to provide weary travelers with a break from the road. Community groups like First United Nescopeck and Mount Zion United Church of Christ in Briggsville encouraged drivers to take a safety stop. The church group provided refreshments for free. Many people offered donations to the group for their kindness. The money will benefit the food pantry and missions. Groups were set up at rest areas in our area. PennDOT offers groups the chance to help out during holidays like the Fourth of July.
