FRIENDLY SONS OF ST. PATRICK OF GREATER PITTSTON 100th ANNIVERSARY

 

 

Pittston, PA   March 6, 2014:  For immediate Release

 

The Friendly Sons of St. Patrick of Greater Pittston are very pleased to announce that this year’s featured speaker will be Northeast PA native and Vice President Joe Biden.

 

This is the organization’s 100th anniversary celebration. Founded in 1914, the Friendly Sons exists to foster the rich Irish Heritage of our area and promote education of local Irish-American youths.  The Friendly Sons awards scholarships for college to High School seniors in our area.  The goal is to make our community a better place by helping to educate our kids.

 

The organization is comprised of men of Irish heritage from the northeast Pennsylvania area.  Past speakers include Senator Robert P. Casey, Jr., Former President Harry Truman, Former Senator Hubert Humphrey, Tim Russert, and Paul Begala.  At the 50th anniversary, area Congressman Dan Flood spoke with Robert F. Kennedy.

 

The event will be held at The Woodlands Resort in Wilkes-Barre on St Patrick’s Day, Monday, March 17th.
