Susquehanna Health Announces Healthy Events for June 2014

Susquehanna Health announces healthy events scheduled in the month of June to provide health information and benefit the community.

Tuesday, June 3, 6:30 pm
Alzheimer’s Support Group

A support group for individuals who are managing Alzheimer’s disease will be held at 6:30 pm on Tuesday, June 3 in the cafeteria at Susquehanna Health’s Muncy Valley Hospital. For more information, please call 570-546-4040.

Wednesday, June 4, 1 pm
Scleroderma Support Group

Susquehanna Health offers a monthly support group for individuals with scleroderma, Raynauds and CREST syndromes that meets on the first Wednesday of the month. This month’s meeting will be held at 1 pm on Wednesday, June 4, at The LifeCenter, Lycoming Mall. For more information, please call 570-398-0551. This service is provided in partnership with Blue Cross of Northeastern Pennsylvania.

Baby Café

Expecting, new or experienced mothers are encouraged to join us at Baby Café from 5:30 to 6:30 pm on Wednesdays, June 4 and 18 at The LifeCenter, Lycoming Mall. This group discussion gives moms an opportunity to talk with other moms about their pregnancy and after birth experiences while spending time out of the house. It’s a safe and relaxed, child-friendly environment, and a board-certified lactation consultant will facilitate the group. Exchange tips about breastfeeding, receive breastfeeding support and discuss parenting concerns with other moms. Mothers are encouraged to bring babies. Free weight checks for baby are available. Driver Safety Course for Seniors

Drivers age 50 and older are encouraged to register for two-day course to help improve your safety while driving scheduled from 12:30 to 4:30 pm on Tuesday, June 10 and Wednesday, June 11 at The LifeCenter, Lycoming Mall. Please preregister by calling the Lincoln Senior Center at 570-323-3096, Monday or Wednesday from 9:30 am to noon. Prepayment of $15 for AARP members or $20 for non-members is required. Checks can be mailed to the Lincoln Senior Center, 2138 Lincoln St., Williamsport, PA 17701. This program is provided in partnership with Blue Cross of Northeastern Pennsylvania.

Heartworks Grief Support Group for Young Adults

Susquehanna Health’s Heartworks program offers a support group for young adults ages 18 to 35 who are coping with the death of someone close to them. This month’s meetings will be held at 7 pm on June 11 and 25 on the third floor of Divine Providence Hospital, Williamsport. The group provides a safe, supportive, non-judgmental space for participants to share their loss experiences, express their feelings and take time to remember the one who has died. Free Hearing Screenings

Free hearing screenings for all ages will be provided on Thursday, June 12 by Susquehanna Health Audiology at The LifeCenter, Lycoming Mall. Appointments will be offered from 10:15 am to 12:30 pm. Free CPR Course

Susquehanna Health’s LifeCenter is please to host the American Heart Association’s CPR Anytime program presented by the Pennsylvania Department of Health. This hands-on program will be offered at 1:30 pm and 5:30 pm on Wednesday, June 18 at The LifeCenter, Lycoming Mall and includes a free training kit with mini Annie doll, booklet and DVD to share with family and friends. Low-Cost Blood Screenings Offered in Lock Haven

Susquehanna Health will offer low-cost blood screenings at the Medical Plaza at Lock Haven, 610 High Street, from 6:30 to 10:30 am on Wednesday, June 25. These screenings provide important information that helps you to be proactive about your health. Participants must consult with their physician about what test(s) may be most beneficial for them. Cash, check or credit card payment is required at the time of service. Preregistration is required for these screenings. Immunization Clinic

Susquehanna Health’s LifeCenter, Lycoming Mall, will host an Immunization Clinic, provided by the Pennsylvania Department of Health from 10:15 am to 1 pm on Thursday, June 26. Immunizations will be offered for $5 per person to anyone who does not have insurance coverage for the needed vaccination. Payment to the “Commonwealth of Pennsylvania” will be accepted only by personal check or money order. To schedule an appointment or for questions about eligibility, please call the Pennsylvania Department of Health’s Health Center at 570-327-3400. This service is provided in partnership with Blue Cross of Northeastern Pennsylvania.

Pelvic Pain Support Group

A Pelvic Pain Support Group is now available for women with chronic pelvic pain. This group is held on the fourth Thursday of the month and offers a positive and supportive environment where you can meet other women who live with endometriosis, interstitial cystitis and other pelvic pain conditions. This month’s meeting will be held at 6 pm on Thursday, June 26 at Costello Center Physical Therapy, Wenner Building, Divine Providence Hospital campus. Walk-ins are welcome, but registration is appreciated. Please call 570-320-7470 to reserve your seat.
