“Spring Choral Program” May 8th

Tamaqua Senior High /Middle School Vocal Music Department present annual program
Tamaqua-  The Tamaqua Senior High /Middle School Vocal Music Department will present its annual “Spring Choral Program” on Thursday, May 8th at 7:30 p.m. in the Tamaqua Area Auditorium. The concert will feature performances by the Middle School General and Select Chorus as well as the Sr. High Concert Choir and the Jazz & Concert Chorale.

The middle school General Chorus will open the program with “Glorificamus Te” followed by the One Direction pop hit “What Makes You Beautiful’’. They will then sing “Riversong” by Andy Beck and close their set with “Count On Me” by Bruno Mars.

The middle school Select Chorus will open their set with “A Mozart Canon” by Donald Moore. The chorus will then sing two pop songs “Hey Soul Sister” and “Home” both accompanied by acoustic guitar. They will finish by singing “The Water is Wide” arranged by renowned choral composer Rollo Dillworth.

The Jazz Chorale will take the stage next singing a wide variety of musical styles and selections. The chorale will begin with “We Sing with Joy” an original composition by Marvin Curtis. The women of the chorale will then sing “One Voice”, a song made popular by pop singers The Wailin’ Jennys, while the men of the chorale will sing “When I Was Your Man” by Bruno Mars. They will then sing a Gershwin jazz classic in “Love Is Here to Stay”. They close their set with a traditional Gaelic Blessing “May the Road Rise Up”.
The Concert Choir will close the program with “Who Will Be a Witness?” by Donald Moore. They will follow that with the choir singing a medley of songs from the Broadway musical “Les Miserables” which will feature a number of soloists. The concert will conclude with “Music Speaks” a choral piece written about the power of music.

The accompanists for the choirs are Olivia Behr, Hannah Betz, Andrew Delpais, Antonetta Gerace, Francesca Gerace, Cailyn Joseph, Claire Lewis, Patrick McMullen, Sierra Petrucci, Faith Roberts, and Olivia Stanek. The choirs are under the direction of John D. Buglio.

Art projects presented by middle school students will be on display in the auditorium lobby beginning at 6:30 pm for viewing pleasure.

Admission to the concert is $4.00 for adults, $2.00 for children/senior citizens. Doors to the auditorium will open at 6:45 p.m.
