Pottsville Police say 18 year old Larisa Zimmerman admits she threw her two month old son Spencer against the wall of her apartment early Tuesday morning because she was frustrated with the child. The child suffered a fractured skull and doctors found evidence of another skull fracture as well as bruises from alleged prior abuse. The baby remains in critical condition at Lehigh Valley Hospital. Tina Bidel lives near Zimmerman and talked with her on Monday. Bidel said, "She seemed happy. She told me her son's name is Spencer. I told her he was precious." Another neighbor Justin Snyder told Eyewitness News, "I have two young children and they are supposed to be taken care of. They are not supposed to be abused." This reporter knocked at the door of Zimmerman's apartment at the Market Square Apartment complex in Pottsville and a man answered the door. He said no comment as did a female who was out of sight. Schuylkill County District Attorney Christine Holman said Zimmerman will face homicide charges should her son die from his injuries. Zimmerman remains locked up unable to pay $50,000 bail. She will have a hearing next week. She faces some 20 years in prison if convicted on the charges which include Aggravated and Simple Assault as well as Endangering a Child.
