Riding for the Animals

Motorcycle riders revved their engines Sunday in Lackawanna County to support shelter pets.

Scranton, Lacakwanna County - Motorcycle riders revved their engines Sunday in Lackawanna County to support shelter pets. The 57 mile ride took bikers from Scranton to Peckville -- all to raise money for emergency care for the pets housed at Griffin Pond Animal Shelter.

"A lot of people don't realize that we take in animals that have been taken from abusive cases or strays hit by cars or because owners can't afford the care," said Jess Farrell, spokesperson for Griffin Pond Animal Shelter.

"We're animal lovers [obviously.] It's a good cause to support. It's his one year birthday and he wanted to go for a ride," said rider Joe Guerra, with his dog of Scranton.

Pets were also available for adoption at Sunday's ride in Lackawanna County.
