PSU's McIntosh on the Rise

Penn State sophomore Morgan McIntosh translating strength into wins.
STATE COLLEGE - In a sport that's about peaking at the perfect time, Penn State’s 197 pounder Morgan McIntosh is doing just that, coming on very strong here in the last two months.

“I've known all along that I should be at the top,” the sophomore says. “But it's just taken a little while.”

McIntosh has rattled off seven straight dual wins since falling twice at the Southern Scuffle.
His latest victory, an upset of then top ranked Scott Schiller, raised him to third in the nation.

“It gave you a good idea that he is in the mix,” head coach Cael Sanderson says. “I think after the Scuffle, people were like, oh man, maybe he's not quite ready. He is obviously and that's good for our team.”

“It finally feels good to be kind of at the top of the weight class right now,” McIntosh says.

One of the biggest differences for McIntosh is size.
He's about tens pounds of muscle heavier than just a couple moths ago.

“I just feel a lot more confident tying up with guys, getting on their legs, being able to finish,” McIntosh says of his improved strength.

It’s big dual this weekend for McIntosh and the Nittany Lions.
No. 1 Penn State hosts No. 5 Oklahoma State for the first time in nearly two decades.
