Pittston Parade Makes A Comeback

More than 100 groups participated in the Greater Pittston St. Patrick's Parade, including baton twirlers, marching bands and even Irish step dancers.
Pittston, Luzerne County -- The bagpipes are back in downtown Pittston for the first time in more than 50 years.

More than 100 groups participated in the Greater Pittston St. Patrick's Parade, including baton twirlers, marching bands and even Irish step dancers.

Paul Reedy helped organize the parade in an effort to build on the success of the city's tomato festival, which draws tens of thousands of people every year.

Napoli's Pizza is one of many Main Street businesses that opened around 7 o'clock in the morning to feed swarms of hungry parade goers. Co-owner Antonio Costagliola was busy tossing breakfast pizzas with all the fixings.

The parade is a hit with the younger crowd. Kids lined the streets collecting candy. 10-year-old Shamus McGuire traveled with his family all the way from New York to visit relatives in Pittston.

Peter Duncan was decked out in a beer keg costume. He and his wife Laura celebrated eight years of marriage at the parade.
