PennDOT District 4 Employees Aid Griffin Pond Animal Shelter

For the past five years employees from PennDOT’ s District 4  has been collecting for the Griffin Pond Animal Shelter in Clarks Summit.  Dorine Powers, employee in the accounting department coordinate the fundraising campaign.  Jeanne Peffer, Fiscal Officer, said “this is our way to thank the shelter for the work they do to protect and comfort the animals in the Greater Lackawanna County area”.  Each year, the employees volunteer to deliver monetary donations, food and  treats; afterwards, they walk and play with the resident animals.  Peffer said, “At the visit, this year we learned that the volunteers fill Kong toys with peanut butter each evening so the dogs enjoy a treat.” Peanut butter would be a welcome donation to the shelter at any time.  Peffer made note that anyone may visit the shelter and walk the animals from 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily except Tuesday.
