Peace Officer Memorial Ceremony Today in Hazleton

Today is National Peace Officer Memorial Day. Thursday's ceremony takes place on the steps of Hazleton City Hall beginning at 1:00. Everyone is welcome to attend.
 The City of  Hazleton will pay tribute to members of law enforcement.
 
  The day also marks the 76th Anniversary of the death of Ernesto Valente.  He's the only Hazleton Police Officer to be killed in the line of duty.
  His family will be on hand as Valente is honored along with other members of law enforcement.
  Hazleton police chief, Frank DeAndrea, says it's important to thank them for their service.
 
"These men and women put a bulletproof vest on to go to work. They realize that when they kiss their loved ones in the morning that that they may not come home."
  Thursday's ceremony takes place on the steps of Hazleton City Hall beginning at 1:00.
  Everyone is welcome to attend.
