The I-Team has confirmed that one of the women allegedly assaulted by 33 year old Luis Figueroa was granted a Protection from Abuse Order in early May-- He was accused of acting violently toward his ex-girlfriend who is the mother of his 7 year old son.Figueroa is accused of attacking that woman and two other women in a violent incident at their home on North Church Street in Hazleton Friday morning. Investigators say Figueroa kidnapped his ex-girlfriend and assaulted her inside the vehicle. The crime rampage took a stop in the Delaware Water Gap National Park where Figueroa allegedly assaulted a park employee and stole his vehicle. The ex-girlfriend was able to escape during the alleged assault on the park employee and drove to safety. Figueroa then drove to a car dealership in Paterson, New Jersey where he allegedly tried to trade in the stolen vehicle for a new vehicle. Detectives say a fight broke out at the dealership and Figueroa torched the dealership and attempted to set the salesman on fire. The rampage headed toward the George Washington Bridge in NewYork City where investigators say Figueroa rammed three Port Authority Police cruisers injuring three officers. Figueroa was captured after a short foot chase on the bridge. This reporter spoke to a woman who was inside the Hazleton apartment. She would not open the door but said that everybody was doing fine. She said she did not want to make any comment at this point in time. Neighbor Amanda Deisroth told Eyewitness News, "If I saw him attacking a pregnant woman I would have stepped in and probably got shot." Figueroa will eventually be extradited to Hazleton but that may take some time since dozens of charges have been fled in three states. Law enforcement officials are sorting out all of the counts. All of the people injured in the rampage will be alright.
