Man Sentenced in Death of Area Teenager

State police filed charges in the vehicle death of 18-year-old Mcadoo girl on July 3rd, 2011. Onix Gorbea-Lespier was sentenced to spend a year-and-a-half to three years in Luzerne County Prison for the death of 18 year-old Kayla Bahrey.
The Sentencing:

Hazle Township, Luzerne County
- A Mechanicsburg man is going to prison for a deadly crash that killed a teenager from McAdoo in 2011.

Onix Gorbea-Lespier was sentenced to spend a year-and-a-half to three years in Luzerne County Prison for the death of 18 year-old Kayla Bahrey.

Kayla was standing outside of a car that was disabled along I-81 in Hazle Township when she was struck and killed by a car driven by Lespier.

A passenger in the disabled car was also hurt.

The Crash:
Hazle Township, Luzerne County-State police say 49-year-old Onix Gorbea-Lespier was drunk when he crashed his car into a disabled vehicle and its two passengers.

18-year-old Kayla Bahrey was killed in the crash that took place late on the night of July 3rd. It happened near the Southwest Hazleton Beltway exit of I-81 southbound.

According to arrest papers, Gorbea-Lespier was drinking at a party in the Poconos and was driving home to Mechanicsburg when his car slammed into another vehicle which had run out of gas near mile marker 141.

Bahrey was pushing the car toward the off ramp when the crash took place.  Bahrey and Tyler Paisley were driving home to Mcadoo after watching a fireworks' display in Hazleton.

State troopers say Gorbea-Lespier's blood level was .084 a the time of the crash. Bahrey died at the scene. Pasiley suffered serious injuries and was taken to a local hospital.

Gorbea-Lespier will have a hearing October 26th at District Justice Thomas Sharkey's Court in Hazle Township. He is free on $10,000 unsecured bail.
