LCTA Ghost Rider Probe May Lead To Funding Cuts

The investigation into alleged ghost riders on LCTA buses could lead to a cut in County funding and possibly the elimination of the LCTA as it now exists.
Luzerne County Council Chairman Rick Morelli says the council will take action of some type in light of a Penndot report that alleges over inflated ridership numbers-As a result Penndot is seeking a $3 million dollar refund of state funds-- The report comes in the midst of a Statewide Investigating Grand Jury probe of the LCTA--Morelli said, "We may have to take back some of the money we gave the LCTA--We have investigative powers and can do an audit-- We can remove board members and start over-" State Senator John Yudichak is also keeping an eye on the developments at the LCTA-- He said, "We have to make sure taxpayer dollars are protected and the needed services are affordable and accessible--"  LCTA officials say they met on Friday and reviewed the Penndot report and say they will respond to that report--They have insisted from day one they did nothing wrong or illegal---
