I-Team: Warning For IRS Phone Scam

A warning today about a telephone scam involving people posing as IRS officials.
Ray Hamad from Pringle just happened to be at his elderly mother's home when a man called claiming to be from the IRS and threatened to put his mother in prison if she didn't pay back taxes- Hamad said,"How cruel can someone be by calling people like my mom and scare them this way I wanted to get the word out so others are not victimized by these people---The words IRS makes anybody's heart drop and they know people are up against it this time of the year"-  An IRS spokesperson told Eyewitness News they do not call people at home and demand payments through debit cards or make threats on the phone--"   The Pennsylvania Attorney General's Office also issued a warning about the scam that has been showing up around the commonwealth--for more information about the scam go to the IRS website--
