I-Team: Mail Lottery Scam Warning

Area Law enforcement is warning residents about a mail lottery scam. People are sent a bogus check that will start the process to be awarded $50,000.
Pringle, Luzerne County- Heather O'Gorman knew it looked to good to be true--cash a check to receive an even larger check-- so she called the I-Team--- She said, "I did not want anyone else to be tricked into sending money--people are having a tough time making ends meet and they might just look at this as a way out of their situation--" The scammers try to entice a person to cash a check and deposit into their personal account in the hopes they will send money electronically--by the time the person realizes it is a scam-the fraudulent operation is shutdown and the money is gone-  Luzerne County Detective Chaz Balogh said, "They are playing a numbers game knowing that if they mail out thousands of these checks odds are someone will be tricked out of their money--"
