Hazleton Murder Suspect Brought Back to NEPA

A homicide suspect accused of a brutal murder in Luzerne County was brought back to our region.
Update: A homicide suspect accused of a brutal murder in Luzerne County was brought back to our region on June 10th.

He's accused of strangling his ex-girlfriend maria brea in December of 2012.

Her body was found wrapped in a plastic bag inside her Hazleton apartment.

Lozano-Garcia was arraigned in Luzerne County.







36 year old Oscar Lozano Garcia told his employer he was headed to Mexico because the cops were looking for him after he had a fight with his girlfriend--Garcia also had scratches on his neck and arms--so say Luzerne County District Attorney Stefanie Salavantis-- Garcia was wanted for the murder of 32 year old Maria Brea in Hazleton in December 2012---Garcia reported her missing on December 14th---her body was found in the attic of her East Diamond Avenue home four days later-she was strangled to death--  The arrest was made thanks to a joint effort by US Marshals, State Police, Hazleton City Police and the Luzerne County District Attorney's Office-  US Marshal Martin Pane said, "This was a cooperative effort that shows what can be done when different agencies work together-" Hazleton Police Chief Frank DeAndrea added, "This sends a loud and clear message to our community that we can find you if you flee to Mexico--" Garcia should be brought back to Luzerne County in about two months---
