Future of the Mall at Steamtown

New details are emerging this morning about the fate of the Mall at Steamtown in Downtown Scranton
Scranton, Lackawanna County- According to published reports, the mall is facing foreclosure.
Mall officials confirm the reports in this morning's Times-Tribune are accurate.
The paper quoting Al Boscov  indicates the mall here on Lackawanna Avenue is on the verge of foreclosure.
Right now it is no secret that the mall is in debt.
Al Boscov told the Times-Tribune that he believes the foreclosure process will help the facility get back on steady ground.
Right now Boscov's Department Store Chain is the only anchor tenant that remains in this facility.
In late January -- the BonTon closed its doors.
Mall managers say they have a new prosepective anchor tenant lined up -- but according to Al Boscov getting that retailer in here might take a backseat temporarily as the foreclosure process gets underway.
The Mall at Steamtown is obviously a huge economic engine  in Downtown Scranton.
  It employs hundreds of people.
As we first reported last night -- all of this is comes as mall tenants have been invited to a meeting Friday morning at 9:00 am in the Mall's Food court.
A memo sent out Wednesday indicates Al Boscov will be in attendance -- and the memo billed the meeting has having "exciting news."
As of right now -- shoppers won't see any difference  at the Mall at Steamtown.
