Williamsport, Lycoming County- While no one has yet been arrested... Police say they are taking this matter seriously and do plan to file charges.
They're waiting to see how severely Gage Smith was injured.

Gage says he was trying to break up a fight after school...
The uncle of one of the boys involved followed him home and Gage says he hit him.
Twice.

11 year old Gage was sent to the hospital with a fractured eye socket, a blood clot and needing two rows of stitches.

"Kids are fighting, kids fight we're taking 12-13 year olds, you don't take retribution against issues like that." said Captain Mike Orwig of Williamsport Police

Police say witnesses corroborate Gage's claims and they are taking the case seriously.
Officers spoke with the suspect when the ambulance took Gage to the hospital last week.
Jennifer Smith, Gage's Mom,  spoke with Eyewitness News last night...

"After the gentleman punched him he took him in his house, cleaned him up, and walked him to the ambulance... gave the officer his id, the officer gave it back and that's when I showed up."

Police are waiting to file charges until they know the severity of Gage's injuries.

"The officer consulted with the family, to see what level of care was needed, to see if it would rise to a level of aggravated assault." said Captain Owig.
Gage has been out of school for a week but hopes to return soon.
Until then -- his stepfather says the man who punched him lives just six doors down and his family is worried for their safety.
