Clients of URS Heartbroken Over the Closure

Hundreds of people who are part of United Rehabilitation Services feel defeated tonight. It was announced that URS will close in June- U-R-S helps people with disabilities find work. The I-Team's Andy Mehalshick talked with families who are very sad about the closing.
Hazleton, Luzerne County- The clients and their families say the URS Centers are much more than places of work or places to spend their day. It is their second home and now efforts are underway to find options for those who call URS home in Wilkes-Barre, Tunkhanock and Hazleton.

Amber Lutz says she does not know what she wold do if the  URS Center in Hazleton closes its doors..


Officials of URS announced Wednesday that money problems will force it to close its doors on June 18th. Dozens of people jammed the URS Hazleton Center to talk about what will happen in the days ahead. The C.E.O blames cuts in state funding as one of the main reasons for the closure. URS provides vocational programs and even jobs for some 300 people  at 3 centers located in Hazleton, Wilkes-Barre and Tunkhannock.

State Representative Tarah Toohil is working with state and count leaders to find a solution  and option for the clients and employees..
