Scranton, Lackawanna County- This month's Buddy Check report features a non-profit that's stepping in to help uninsured patients get potentially life-saving cancer screenings. Northeast Regional Cancer Institute has developed a grant-funded program to guide people through the process of getting regular screenings and it's all for free. So far, about 400 people in Northeastern Pennsylvania have signed up for regular mammograms to screen for breast cancer and even cervical and colon cancer.
