Bridge Closure Halted

SR 3019 (Lonesome Road) in Moosic will not be closed today, as previously announced. Because the only access point to many homes in the area is over a railroad track that carries up to fourteen trains per day, the Department is conducting an analysis of the county-owned bridge on Main Street to see if emergency responders could cross that bridge in the event of an emergency if access is blocked at SR 3019. The analysis will take approximately one week, and coordination will then be made with all the emergency responders in the area.
Moosic, Lackawanna County- Concerns from the public stopped the closure of a Lackawanna County bridge.

PennDOT will not close their Main Street bridge in Moosic Tuesday as originally planned, despite the sign that advertises the closure.
A spokesperson says they are working with the county to figure out if they can open a county-owned bridge, also on Main Street, for emergency vehicles only.
That bridge has been closed for several years.
Penn-DOT's spokesman says they should have an updated plan on the State Bridge closure sometime next week.
