Bloomsburg University - Week of Feb. 24

Bonnie Martin-Manager, Communications/Media Relations checking in with this week's events on campus
The sun is shining over Bloomsburg at the moment and I think it is fair to say most of the campus community is looking forward to warmer weather and the absence of snow on the ground.
Until then, we have one of the biggest events of the year occurring next Tuesday, the annual Martin Luther King Jr. commemorative program. Here are details, along with a couple other Bloomsburg University events next week:

·  Myrlie Evers-Williams, widow of slain Mississippi civil rights activist Medgar Evers, will speak at Bloomsburg University’s 21st annual Martin Luther King Jr. Commemorative Celebration at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 25, at Carver Hall’s Kenneth S. Gross Auditorium. Her Tomorrow’s Leaders: Their Voices, Our Journey lecture is free and open to the public.
·  The Student Honors Recital will be presented at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 27, in Bloomsburg University’s Haas Center for the Arts, Mitrani Hall. The event is open to the public free of charge.
·  Students at Bloomsburg University are helping local residents enroll in health care plans through the Affordable Care Act (ACA). The program is available from 2 to 5 p.m. on Fridays at Columbia County Volunteers in Medicine Clinic, Mifflinville, and from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesdays at Wesley United Methodist Church, Bloomsburg, through March 31. For more information about the program, call 570-939-5892 or contact Shiloh Erdley, assistant professor of sociology, social work and criminal justice, at serdley@bloomu.edu.
