Belmont Stakes 2014 And Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs

Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs is planning a day-long event for fans to not only watch the third jewel of the Triple Crown
It’s been 36 years since racing has seen a Triple Crown, and this year, the hope is alive with a horse named California Chrome.  The Art Sherman-trained colt has come out of his Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes victories in good order, and seems poised to make history at this year’s Belmont Stakes.  Reports from Belmont Park have seen the striking chestnut with the white blaze gliding over the track as he trains in the early morning hours.  The colors of purple and green are everywhere, as hats, shirts, and buttons are being produced in large quantities for the thousands of fans who will be snapping up the souvenirs wherever they may watch the race on Saturday, June 7.

Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs is planning a day-long event for fans to not only watch the third jewel of the Triple Crown, but to enjoy the exciting live harness racing as well.  Adding an additional live racing card, the first Post Time will be 11:00am.  Fans may arrive as the doors open at 9:30am, and the track offers free parking and free admission.

The first 100 fans in line at 10:30am can purchase $100 worth of live racing vouchers for $50, and half can be redeemed on the early card, and half on the night card, which will immediately follow the Belmont Stakes.

Pacers Clubhouse, the dining room overlooking the track, opens at 2:00pm by reservation only.  Fans may call to reserve a table at 570-831-2100, but it is nearly sold out.

Out on the track apron, there will be live entertainment from 4:00pm to 6:00pm, and the Trackside Concession Stands, patio bars, and tent will all be selling the Belmont Breeze and other beverages starting at 2:00pm.  Johnny Rockets also will be on hand, grilling hamburgers and hot dogs starting at 2:00pm.

Special California Chrome and Belmont Stakes merchandise have been ordered, and will be for sale on the track apron.

The second live harness racing card immediately follows the 146th running of the Belmont Stakes.
