Area Veterans Awarded Long Overdue Medals

Seven Veterans from Luzerne County received medals for their service to the nation. Three of the Veterans are deceased and the medals were given to their families.
Hazleton, Luzerne County- They came together to share a special bond...a special connection..serving our nation when our nation needed them most. 92 year old Charles Neubert of Hazleton served in the army World War Two. He was at Pearl Harbor when the Japanese attacked.. he received several medals including the Bronze Service Star.

 
90 year old Anthony Zubritsky of Hazleton served in the army in World War Two and received the Purple Heart.
 
 

The family of Leo Scarano from Nanticoke  received his Purple Heart.  He passed away 12 years ago today.  He was in the Army and fought in Europe.
   His family says they will cherish the medals for years to come.
 

Congressman Lou Barletta helped research and track down the special honors.
