Agreement Reached in The Wyoming Area Teacher Strike

The school board took a vote on the new agreement and it passed 7 to 1.
Exeter, Luzerne County -- It looks like we have an agreement in the Wyoming Area teacher strike.

Tonight's meeting began with a moment of silence for school board member John Bolin who recently lost his battle with cancer.

Then the school board took a vote on the new agreement, and it passed 7 to 1.

Eyewitness News talked to people on both sides of the table, and almost everyone agreed that this contract is fair.

The key issues were salary and benefits, but both the school board and the teachers made compromises to finally reach a deal.

The agreement is good through August 2016, and both sides told Eyewitness News they plan to start negotiations sooner next time around.
