2014 Cherry Blossom Festival

The festival marks the beginning of spring and the return of warm weather to the Wyoming Valley
The City of Wilkes-Barre is proud to present the 2014 Cherry Blossom Festival  Saturday and Sunday, April 26-27.

 The event will run daily from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m.  The festival marks the beginning of spring and the return of warm weather to the Wyoming Valley. This year’s Cherry Blossom Festival will offer traditional music and dance entertainment, food and craft vendors, and amusement rides for children of all ages. 

The annual dance festival, “Pirouettes in the Park” will be returning for its 8th season in conjunction with the Cherry Blossom Festival on Saturday, April 26th from 10:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Eighteen dance ensembles from around Northeastern Pennsylvania will showcase a variety of dance style including jazz, classical ballet, modern, Irish step, musical theater and more.
 
This year’s special guest performer for “Pirouettes in the Park” is the Mark Stuart Dance Theatre performing excerpts from their new Broadway-bound show, STANDARD TIME. They will perform their entire show at the F.M. Kirby Center for the Performing Arts on May 23, 2014. In addition to STANDARD TIME, other “Pirouettes in the Park” groups include:

On Sunday, April 27th, the festival will host “Music in the Park” offering live hourly music beginning noon.

There will be tented seating for all performances. The festival events will be held rain or shine and it promises to be endless family fun. Throughout the weekend there will be food and craft vendors, face painting, caricatures, amusement rides, games, pony rides and a petting zoo. Come and see what all the fun is about. People are strongly encouraged to bring a blanket and lawn chair and spend the day in Kirby Park.
