Construction crews are clearing a 46 acre tract of land near the Hazleton Airport to make room for five car dealerships, a bank and a car wash. Former New York Giants Linebackers Jessie Armstead, Antonio Pierce and a third developer are behind the project. Hazle Township Supervisor Chairman Bill Gallagher told Eyewitness News, "This will result in 200 plus jobs coming to the area including everything from car salesmen, mechanics, secretaries and anyone who does work in the car sales business. This will also have a ripple affect on nearby businesses like restaurants and malls." Gigi Joseph manages Booty's Italian Restaurant and added, "This is very good news. We know people are struggling to make ends meet." Kevin McLaughlin from Freeland said, "I'm tired of all the bad news this is something good for a change." If all goes as planned the dealerships should open by the end of the year.
