A billboard near Gilberton, Schuylkill County is causing quite a stir. It urges Council to fire Police Chief Mark Kessler. Kessler was suspended without pay for thirty days after posting a obscenity laden Youtube video challenging gun control groups. The video showed him firing a machine gun. Council suspended Chief Kessler saying he removed borough property, namely the machine gun, from the borough without permission from borough officials. Kessler is expected to challenge the suspension. The group knows as Coalition to Stop Gun Violence or CSGV posted a statement on its website calling for council to fire Kessler. Kessler responded by posting a picture on his Facebook page standing in front of the billboard holding a gun and inviting supporters to take a group picture with him this Saturday. Kessler told the I-Team's Andy Mehalshick that he finds the billboard comical and says he has been getting support from anti-gun people who respect his right to voice his opinion. Most people Eyewitness News approached for comment refused to say anything or appear on camera. They said they were fed up with the controversy. Some believed that Kessler should be fired. Kessler had his supporters like James Stank who told Eyewitness News, "I and many others her support Chief Kessler. His video may have been a little obscene but I think it is what he said and not how he sad it that is important."
