Celebrity Tricycle Race Funfest Sunday

Funfest is in downtown Hazleton- Saturday and Sunday September 7th and 8th
The 6th annual Celebrity Trike Race will be held Funfest Sunday, September 8, and once the race is over, two lucky kids will get to take the trikes home.
“The Trike Race has become a very popular event Funfest Sunday, and we are happy to be giving kids the chance to be involved, by trying their luck at winning a trike,” said Trike Race Chair Pete Lamont.  The race will be held beginning at 11:30 a.m. on the 8th, and will once again feature adult celebrities racing each other through an obstacle course style race on oversized trikes.
E.A.M. Mosca Corporation is once again exclusive event sponsor for the race, which features local media personalities, business leaders, and politicians.  Iron Hawg Custom Cycles customize the trikes, giving them a colorful 1980s design to go with the Funfest 2013 theme, “A Totally 80s Weekend.”  Celebrities who are expected to compete in this year’s race include State Representative Tarah Toohil, Ann Gownley of WYLN-TV, Christina Papa of SSPTV, and Kelly Kostanesky and Jamie Pesotine from the Standard-Speaker.  Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce president Donna Palermo is expected to defend her title from last year.
Children up to the age of 13 will be eligible for the raffle. The Race will begin at 11:30 Sunday at the Greater Hazleton Health Alliance Performance Area, at Wyoming and Broad Streets.  Funfest Committee members will serve as announcers and “obstacles” for the race.
