Bloomsburg, Columbia County-About 350 students on 76 teams from 24 area schools will compete in Bloomsburg University’s 16th annual High School Math Contest from 8 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19, in Kehr Union. Participating schools are: Berwick, Bloomsburg, Coughlin, Freedom, Hazleton Area, Hazleton Academy of Science, Jim Thorpe, Lake Lehman, Mahanoy Area, Millville, MMI, Nativity BVM, North Schuylkill, Old Forge, Parkland, Pottsville, Scranton Prep, Shamokin, Southern Columbia, Tri-Valley, Weatherly, William Allen, Wilson Area and Wyoming Valley West.

The contest has three parts — Quiz Bowl, Brainteasers and the Game of 24 Points — and we’re told this is the largest number of participants in the contest’s history. Winners will be announced at 1:30 p.m.

  • ·  An exhibit by the Susquehanna River Artists is being featured through Nov. 26 in Bloomsburg University’s Haas Center for the Arts. Hours are from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday; 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday and noon to 2 p.m. Saturday. The exhibit is coordinated by the Columbia-Montour Visitors Bureau and BU’s Celebrity Artist Series and is open to the public free of charge.
  • ·  The gender studies minor film series continues with a presentation of Paris at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 21, in Bloomsburg University’s McCormick Center for Human Services, room 2303. The event is free and open to the public.
