Berwick, Columbia County -- One car after another lined up Saturday night along Market Street after it was transformed into a winter wonderland. People came to see the seasonal spectacle called Berwick Christmas Boulevard. "I think it's beautiful. The community does a great job of coming together and setting this up so everyone can enjoy Christmas," said Berwick native Jennifer Drasher. She brought her daughter, Kadence Killian, to opening night of the 67th annual Christmas Boulevard. It's Kadence Killian's first time seeing the massive light display. "I really like it," said the girl. "It's really beautiful."
Among the twinkling trees and other decorations are a few new attractions to this year's display. "People have been asking for movables for years so we're trying to bring them back," said Berwick Jaycees President Brian Powlus who helped oversee the effort. "People are enjoying the lights so if we can get, you know, kids smiling and the people happy, I'm okay with that. I feel like we've succeeded," said Mr. Powlus.
This Christmas season celebration wouldn't be complete without Santa Claus himself who accepted children's wish lists along Christmas Boulevard. "You know, this pulls everyone together and we can all have a happy Christmas together. Kind of boost that Christmas spirit a little bit," said Ms. Drasher.
Berwick Christmas Boulevard is free and open to the public. You can see it nightly through and including New Year's Eve.
