ArtSpace Gallery Soars With September Artists

The Pocono Arts Council is a local arts service organization serving Monroe, Pike, Wayne, Lackawanna & Luzerne counties
An opening reception is scheduled for Saturday, September 7, 1-4pm. The show will run through September 30.
Stroudsburg-The ArtSpace Gallery in the PoconoArts Cultural Center in Stroudsburg soars in September with featured artists Armando Baez; illustration and painting; Irene Bartz; mixed media; Doug Gilbert; painting; Linda Kreckel, watercolor; and Joan Sayer; watercolor. Art from the PoconoArts Morris Berman Collection will also be on display.
Armando Baez, worked in the publishing industry for years as a graphic designer. He created book covers and worked alongside freelance designers and artists. Armando’s interests are in the human form, portraits, illustrations and comic book art. He works in pencils, charcoal, pen and inks, pastels, acrylic, oil paint, airbrush and utilizes Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator to create a distinguished effect from integrating fine arts with the graphic arts.
Irene Bartz, a retired teacher with over twenty-five years teaching experience, is a plein air painter. She creates her images by utilizing the light effects in oil with her palette knife. Irene began by sewing her own clothes and extended her creativity by exploring different outlets of expression with painting, collages and mixed media. Irene is an active member of ArtSpace, no replicas of her art are available. Each piece is truly one of a kind!
  Doug Gilbert, has been drawing and painting since childhood. He worked as a professional technical illustrator for fifteen years, illustrating textbooks at all levels for most of the major US publishers. He has also illustrated books about business, pianos, archeology, history, and computers for Jimmy Carter, Robert Moog, Ray Kurzweil, Larry Fine and others. He has had artwork printed in Newsweek, Musician Magazine, and The New York Times.  Since 1992 he has provided advanced technical support to corporate and government clients with large scale Unix servers.  Recent artwork of Doug Gilbert will be on display at Artspace Gallery during September. Gilbert's work is an energetic, richly colorful, and joyful abstract surrealism. Inspired by Kandinsky and Miro, his work suggests a spiritual origin.
Linda Kreckel, a local artist at heart is an award-winning watercolorist. She is inspired by the rural landscapes, her garden and travels. Linda captures strong values and shapes and continues to preserve the gentle clarity connected with the medium. Her work has received awards at several shows, including a best in show award, and her painting, “Christmas Barn,” graced the cover of Milford Magazine. Linda’s paintings have been purchased for the corporate offices of the NEPA, Federal Credit Union Collection.
Joan Sayer, incorporated art throughout her extensive teaching career in Germany. After retiring, she focused on watercolor painting and enjoys the fluidity of the medium in her work. The subject matter in her work is reflective of living in Europe and in the United States. She has displayed her work locally and internationally and has won awards for her watercolor, mixed media and photography. Joan is a long time member of ArtSpace and is actively involved in other art groups throughout the region.
