John Kuniskas of Jenkins Township was charged with the Mother's Day hit and run death of 65 year old Jean Darsky also of Jenkins Township. Police say Kuniskas was driving a pick-up truck on Westminster Road on the afternoon of May 12th when he ran down Darsky and fled the scene. Kuniskas has nothing to say when he turned himself over to Jenkins Township Police on Friday afternoon. Investigators say Kuniskas told a family member that he thought he may have hit Darsky. A friend of Kuniskas also told police that he saw Kuniskas trying to hammer out dents on his truck the day after the fatal crash. According to arrest papers Kuniskas was texting and making phone calls during the time period of the hit and run and he was likely distracted at the time of the incident. Mark Darsky, the victims son, told Eyewitness News, "This has been devastating to me and is very hard to deal with. It has impacted me more than I ever thought. I just want him to pay the price and I want justice for my mother." Darsky says mother died with a Bible in her hands. Kuniskas faces a slew of charges including Homicide By Vehicle, Fleeing the Scene,Distracted Driving and Tampering with Evidence. He is free on $50,000 bail and will have a hearing on October 16th..he fasces at least 10 years in prison if convicted.
