Four Penguins players picked up their 10th goal of the season as Wilkes-Barre/Scranton skated to a 5-2 win over the Albany Devils on Saturday at the Times Union Center. Defenseman Alex Grant led the offense with his third two-goal effort of the season.

After the Devils battled back from a 2-0 deficit, Paul Thompson put the Penguins back in front with 5:30 remaining in the second period.  Breaking into the Albany zone, Robert Bortuzzo left a puck that Thompson whistled past Keith Kinkaid for this 10th marker of the year.

Wilkes-Barre/Scranton added an insurance goal 55 seconds into the third period during a 5-on-4 power play.  Kinkaid got a piece of the initial bid by Ben Street, but Ryan Craig was on top of the crease to knock in his 10th tally.

Nick Petersen completed the scoring on an unassisted empty-net goal with 1:55 left in regulation.

Brad Thiessen stopped 27-of-29 shots to lift his record to 21-14-2 on the year.

The Penguins got on the board first with a power play goal with 4:11 left in the first intermission.  Cal O'Reilly won a faceoff back to Alexandre Picard, who quickly slid the puck along to Grant for a one-time slapshot that blew past Kinkaid.

Grant added his second of the game to make it 2-0 for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton at 1:41 of the second, accepting a feed from Ben Street and going upstairs with a shot to also notch goal number ten.

Albany cut the lead in half two minutes later when Joe Whitney dropped a pass that Mike Hoeffel fired past a screened Brad Thiessen in net for the Penguins.

Matt Taormina then evened the score at 9:08 on the man-advantage, keeping in a clearing attempt by the Penguins and wristing a shot to the back of the net.

The Penguins were 2-for-6 on the power play and killed off three of four man-advantages by the Devils.

The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins hit Norfolk on Tuesday, April 3 to battle the Admirals at 7:15 PM.
