NORFOLK, Va. - The Norfolk Admirals scored four unanswered goals to come away a 4-1 win against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins on Wednesday night at the Norfolk Scope. Tyler Johnson recorded a goal and two assists as the Admirals won their 16th game in a row and also ended the Penguins' five-game road winning streak.
One second after a Norfolk power play expired, it was the Penguins going up 1-0 as Bryan Lerg sneaked a wrist shot past Jaroslav Janus at 8:47 of the first. It was Lerg's team-leading 23rd goal of season.
The Admirals tied the game on their next man-advantage with defenseman Mark Barberio sending a slap pass to the post that Richard Panik angled past goaltender Scott Munroe.
Thirty-one seconds later, Radko Gudas gave Norfolk their first lead of the contest, taking a shot from the between the circles that found the back of the net.
Starting the second period on the power play, the Admirals needed only ten seconds to jump ahead to a 3-1 lead. Johnson took the opening faceoff, split the defense and skated in for a breakaway goal.
Evan Oberg potted Norfolk's final goal of the game at the 2:37 mark of the third period.
The Admirals limited the Penguins to just 13 shots - their lowest total of the season. Munroe fell to 15-6-3 on the season, making 29 saves on 33 shots. Janus won his fourth consecutive start with 12 saves in the contest.
Wilkes-Barre/Scranton was scoreless in four power play opportunities and 6-for-8 on the penalty kill.
