The Penguins will play a 76-game regular season schedule (38 home/38 road) featuring games against every team in the Eastern Conference. The majority of those (40 games total – 20 home/20 road) will come against East Division foes. The Penguins will also face off against clubs from the Northeast Division (20 games total – 10 home/10 road) and Atlantic Division (16 games total – 8 home/8 road).
The home opener will be the first contest for the recently relocated Phantoms, who begin play in Allentown this year after spending the past three campaigns in Glens Falls, New York. It’s somewhat of an historic meeting, as the Phantoms (then located in Philadelphia) hosted the Penguins in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton’s inaugural game on October 1, 1999.
The Penguins’ first road trip of the season sees the team traveling north to face the St. John’s IceCaps. The two teams faced off in the Eastern Conference Final of the 2014 Calder Cup Playoffs, with St. John’s advancing to the championship round in six games.
Thirty of the team’s 38 home contests will take place on weekend evenings or afternoons. The Penguins’ longest homestands are four games each (December 27-January 2; February 11-February 21), while the team’s longest stretch of games away from northeast Pennsylvania encompasses six contests (February22-March 8).(Information from the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins)
