Barger Earns 2nd ECWC Rookie of the Week

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The lone freshman to pick up an
Empire Collegiate Wrestling Conference championship title on Saturday, Jan. 18,
Lycoming College freshman Nolan Barger (Clearfield, Pa./Clearfield Area)
earned his second ECWC Rookie of the Week honors on Tuesday afternoon, Jan.
22.

Barger earned the title at 157 pounds after entering the
tournament as the No. 4 seed. He notched an 11-9 decision against Oneonta's
Samuel Rachman in the quarterfinals  before beating the top-seed, Cortland
State's James Ondris, 4-3, in the semifinals to set up the championship match,
where he beat junior teammate and No. 3-seed Brian Watkins (Bear Gap,
Pa./Southern Columbia), 5-1. Barger improved to 18-10 on the season.

Barger joins freshman 149-pounder Seth Lansberry
(Klingerstown, Pa./Line Mountain) as a multiple-time winner of the award,
also earning it Nov. 5. Lansberry picked up the award on Nov. 26, Dec. 22 and
Jan. 14 while freshman 197-pounder Skyler Ebner (Muncy, Pa./Muncy) picked
up the award Jan. 7.

The Warriors get back on the mat on Friday, Jan. 24, when
they head to Greenville, Pa., for the Mel Berry Duals at 4 p.m., where they will
face Thiel, Baldwin-Wallace and Mercyhurst-Northeast.
