Penn State Tops Syracuse In Opener

The Nittany Lions take down Syracuse 23-17 in Christian Hackenberg's first start under center.
EAST RUTHERFORD, NEW JERSEY - True Freshman Quarterback Christian Hackenberg became just the second Penn State True Freshmen QB to start the season for the Nittany Lions. Hackenberg tossed two touchdowns and two interceptions, as Penn State was able to hold off a late rally from Syracuse and pick up a 23-17 win.

Junior Wide Receiver Allen Robinson didn't play in the firsst half, but provided a huge spark for the Nittany Lions once he took the field. Robinson hauled in seven passes for 133 yards and a touchdown.

Penn State will host Eastern Michigan next Saturday at noon in Happy Valley.
