Scranton, Lackawanna County-  We are beginning our weekly gardening segment for those of you who like to grow your own flowers and vegetables.

Josh Hodell introduces us to Jane Risse of the Green House Project at Nay Aug Park in Scranton.

About the Green House Project: The Greenhouse Project is a community-driven environmental learning space at Nay Aug Park in Scranton, PA.  In addition to being a source of flowers and vegetable transplants for the homeowner, The Greenhouse Project aims to promote and explore the availability of affordable, local, healthy, organic food in and around Scranton, environmental stewardship, horticulture, and responsible food ethics. Through partnerships with schools, farmers, business, and residents of the region, The Greenhouse Project will provide education and support local food systems. The Greenhouse provides a variety of educational and volunteer gardening opportunities for all most levels. The Greenhouse uses organic practices in its edible food transplants and will offer heirloom varieties when possible.
