STATE COLLEGE - In a year filled with ups and downs, the Penn State men's lacrosse team will be playing for pride Saturday in its regular season finale against No. 12 Hofstra.
A victory would give the Nittany Lions a winning season.
“You know three weeks ago, I don't think a lot of people would have thought that was possible,” head coach Jeff Tambroni says. “And to the credit of this senior group and the captains. We're hoping that's what they reflect back on and use as motivation as they come into this.”
A shift in line-ups has helped Penn State win two straight after dropping four of five games.
All-American goalie Austin Kaut is also on a upward trend, including 59 shutout minutes in a win at Towson earlier this month.
“I think if you look at his performance as of late,” Tambroni says. “I think it's going to leave the legacy maybe not of his best year that he's been here, but certainly one of the most challenging years. And hopefully the way that he finishes will be on top because that will be a great reflection of what he's brought to this program.”
Game time is set for noon at the Penn State lacrosse field.
The seniors will be honored about 20 minutes before the action.
