Your Local Election HQ: 8th Congressional District John Chrin Victory

(WBRE/WYOU-TV) Republican Candidate John Chrin got the GOP nod in the newly formed 8th congressional district.

   He thanked his supporters and said this is the first time he’s run for political office and is in awe of the support he received.

An Investment banker and political newcomer John Chrin easily beat former Scranton police officer Joe Peters and businessman Robert Kuniegel.
    John Chrin says one of his top priorities will be new job creation and providing opportunities for the region's young people.
    The new 8th district consists of all of Lackawanna, Wayne and Pike counties -- along with portions of Luzerne and Monroe counties

He will take on Democratic incumbent Matt Cartwright in November.

It was also Chrin's 55th birthday- which he celebrated with a cake after his win,
